Since I’m now 7 weeks away, I guess it’s a good time to announce this to the social media world. For my masters program, we are required to spend the summer partnering with an international organization on a development project. Of course, initially I assumed that I would be going back to Africa. However, after much prayer and a lot of thought, it became apparent that I was being led in a different direction–India. On May 15, I will leave for the summer to work in Goa, India with Rahab’s Rope, an organization that fights human trafficking. I will be creating and leading young women in the prevention programs at Rahab’s Rope through a leadership development curriculum, with the hope that these girls would go on to become leaders in their own communities and offer support to other women. While 7 weeks from departure still seems like a while, I know it’s really not and there is a lot to get done before I leave–including having a rough curriculum for the training and oh, finishing the semester. If you are willing, I ask that you would pray. Pray for me as I prepare for this journey, that I get everything done, that my heart would be readied. Pray for the young women that I will be working with and for their hearts. Pray for the other girls interning with Rahab’s Rope this summer (both in Goa and in other cities throughout India). And most importantly, pray that God would continue to work through Rahab’s Rope and similar organizations around the world that are combating this deep injustice. Thank you, friends. I’ll bring you all back something real nice.
